Why do you
think certain nations long for an ancient historical presence on their
territory which is not supported by science?
Does the existence of the internet make theories which are based on
nationalism and politics rather than scientific knowledge more widespread? What can be done to combat this
misinformation? How much is government part
of the solution or part of the problem?
Hi. Welcome to the blog for my IB English B class at Jur Hronec High School in Bratislava, Slovakia. Below you will find links to other websites and discussion questions. My students are required to comment on one of these postings every month and also respond to each other's comments. Feel free to add your two bits, but be aware that all comments are monitored before being posted.

No merits to meritocracy?
link
What do you
think about Sandel's theories about what led to
the rise of politicians such as Bolsonaro or Trump? Does a meritocracy encourage attitudes of resentment or
entitlement? Is meritocracy able to cope
with technological unemployment? How can
democracy encourage more substantive debates, if that is indeed a solution
to these problems?

What do you
think about asking for money over the internet on sites such as Ketto or Go
Fund Me? Is this just a different
(perhaps more directed) means of begging?
Is it a replacement for what should be the role of government or
charities? How do Slovaks compare with
Indians in terms of their philanthropic tendencies?
