This is the last article you can comment on for December.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend? Since women’s school results keep getting better than men’s (at least in the U.S.) and the information age is phasing out some traditional (physical) male jobs, where will this all end? How soon will this issue arrive in Slovakia, if it hasn’t already?
In my opinion, this trend is becoming widely accepted in our society. Times are changing, and women are becoming more equal to men, as was pointed out in the article. In the past, women had no rights or privileges and it was unusual that a woman was working. Their main job was to stay at home and take care of children.
ReplyDeleteI believe that working gives women a feeling of equality, self-fulfillment and self-confidence, and very often a woman wants to be independent from her partner. For a large number of women their job is also a hobby and I think that this might also be the cause of their wage being higher than the men’s. For some women, working is an obligation, because man´s salary sometimes isn´t high enough to cover all household expenses and necessities.
If talking about the positive effects of mothers working, their children learn to be independent as men usually are not so caring and rather lead the children to their own decision-making. Moreover, they often must rely only on their own, which can be a big advantage in their future.
I personally don’t think that it is a bad deal if the roles in family are reversed. Everything depends on the communication, if the partners are able to find suitable compromises, then I don’t see a reason why the partners should break apart. However, in my opinion, such living also requires a lot of self-sacrifice for the sake of the family, and the person should not compare with the other partner, to clarify, by means of how much he or she does for the family. As I said before, it’s about how much we are willing to put into it. The more we invest, the more will return to us.
I think that the trend of women working and men staying home is an indicator of the progress our society has made since the beginning. It took a lot of effort for women to gain rights and nowadays men and women are more equal than ever. And one of the rights is the right to earn their own money. Personally, I do not see anything wrong with women earning their own money although there are a lot of men who feel that their jobs are in danger because of women working.
ReplyDeleteThe trend of women working will definitely bring positive results on the economy. As more women will start to work they will challenge men in their respective fields. A lot of men may lose their jobs as women might be the better alternative to the position. A lot of men will be complaining about the loss of their jobs but if a woman is better then why not hire her? Employers should not discriminate women and should only consider the skills and experience of their candidates regardless of their gender. The trend of working women will increase the level of competition in a lot of positions across all the economy.
Even though a great deal of women is talented in their respective fields there are some areas men should not worry about. For example, oil drillers are probably not worried about the trend of working women. There might be a few girls who dream about being an oil driller when they grow up, but I don’t think there so many of them to influence the business.
There are some jobs that will always be men-oriented as well as there are some jobs that are mostly done by women. These jobs were always one-sided and it might stay that way forever but as for the jobs in the middle, women and men should have the same opportunity to gain the job regardless of the gender.
