Art on loan from alleged torturers

Are you convinced by the argument which this article puts forward that western museums should cut their ties with China because of that government's treatment of their Uyghur minority?  Does it surprise you that the sports world has gone further in terms of divestment than the arts world has?  How should organisations respond when such abuses against minority groups take place or when governments simply deny their guilt?

Is technology key to solving the problem of drunk driving?  What do you think about requiring technology through a law before the technology is completely developed?  Why do you think the law requires this technology to activate passively?  Do you see any pitfalls that these technologies might have?

How much individual and collective responsibility do we have towards immigrants (whose legal status is likely still in question)?  Is providing rescue, food, shelter and clothing a moral imperative or does this encourage more immigrants to come?  How do you think Slovak attitudes compare to British ones on this issue?

What do you think about the theories outlined here in terms of what leads parents to be sceptical of or against child vaccinations?  Is part of this a reaction to paternalistic and collectivist attitudes of medical professionals that prevailed during socialism?  Is the individualist approach any better? How do you think attitudes about child vaccinations intersect with other political attitudes?  Is polarisation preventing people from seeing this issue clearly? Is Slovakia any different from the Czech republic in this case?

What do you think is causing the rising costs of higher education in the US: more student loans, more administration, higher expectations, a greater understanding of brain underdevelopment in the teenage and young adult years, or the school stepping in to take care of things no longer ensured by the state? Is this mainly an American problem or is it spreading elsewhere? How can the status of professors be protected from further decline (if it needs to be)?  How can you be sure that you will get what you pay for?

This is the last entry you can comment on for the month of January.
